A passenger endorsement is required when you drive a vehicle designed to carry a specific number of passengers, such as buses or vans used for public or private transport. It is mandatory for roles involving group transportation. Without it, you cannot legally carry passengers for hire.
To add a passenger endorsement to a Class A CDL, you must pass a written knowledge test and a skills test in a passenger vehicle. Training programs help you prepare with both classroom and hands-on practice. Once you pass, the endorsement is added to your license.
